1986-1999: "The Beginning"

This period was "discovery & experimemtation" 

Learning about the rocks, how to move & balance them, the 'power spot' site, the river, encountering the media, and meeting people from many places.

 I didn't plan to continue the project after 1988, but as an experiment, I filed a grant request to Canada Council for the Arts.
Much to my surprise, a grant was provided by  "EXPLORATIONS" for 1989.

The National Capital Commission, a federal agency overseeing public "Crown lands" in the Ottawa-Gatineau region, renovated the site in 1997.
When I returned in 1998, I found a very different opened landscape, and the project changed accordingly.

 1998 has always been the turning point in this project. The National Capital Commission became involved in monitoring the project and site in 1998, and offered a contract agreement, which began in 2000.
